Comprehensive, standardized assessments performed by a licensed physical therapist with over 25 years of experience.
A Functional Capacity Evaluation is a comprehensive, standardized assessment of an individual's ability to perform work-related physical tasks. I use established, evidence-based protocols that include built-in validity and consistency testing to ensure reliable results.
Every FCE I perform includes multiple validity indicators and consistency checks woven throughout the evaluation. These measures help determine whether the individual's performance reflects a true maximal effort, and they are documented in the final report.
Evaluations are performed at a dedicated evaluation space equipped with standardized testing equipment. The process includes an interview, medical history review, and a series of physical performance tests. I explain each test before it's performed and encourage best effort throughout.
Report turnaround: Comprehensive reports are typically delivered within 5–7 business days of the evaluation.
Impairment ratings quantify the degree of permanent impairment resulting from injury or illness, expressed as a percentage of whole person impairment. I perform ratings using the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment — the standard referenced by Connecticut workers' compensation and used in personal injury cases.
Each impairment rating includes a thorough review of medical records, a focused physical examination, and application of the appropriate AMA Guides methodology. The resulting report clearly identifies the diagnosis, the applicable rating criteria, and the calculated impairment percentage with supporting rationale.
Report turnaround: Typically 5–7 business days.
Post-Offer Employment Testing helps employers make informed hiring decisions by objectively measuring a candidate's physical abilities against the specific demands of the job. Testing is conducted after a conditional offer of employment has been extended, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
A Fitness-for-Duty Evaluation determines whether an individual can safely perform the essential physical functions of their job. These evaluations are typically requested when an employee is returning from injury, illness, or extended leave, or when there is concern about safe job performance.
The evaluation report provides a clear determination with supporting clinical rationale, along with any recommended restrictions or accommodations.
I provide on-site ergonomic assessments and physical demand analyses for employers who want to prevent workplace injuries, support return-to-work planning, or establish job-specific testing protocols.
Assessments are performed at employer/client facilities and include a detailed written report with findings and recommendations.
When a full in-person evaluation isn't needed — or when additional clinical analysis would be helpful — I offer detailed record review and written consultation services.
Record reviews include a detailed written report summarizing findings and clinical opinions.
